PHILLIP BRISLEY, MBE

FOUNDING PRINCIPAL

Mr Phillip Brisley is the Principal of Crescendo-HELP International School (CHIS). Mr Phillip left College in the distant past, in 1972 with a Certificate in Education and has worked extensively in the UK and internationally. He has been a Principal and Head Teacher in England, Jordan and Malaysia before assuming his latest role in Johor Bahru. In 2001, he was awarded an MBE (Member of the Most Honourable Order of the British Empire) from HM Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for his outstanding service to the community. Mr Phillip enjoys travelling, reading and writing and is looking forward to helping CHIS become the premier international school in the city.

TAN SEOW HENG (MRS GAN)

DEPUTY HEAD TEACHER

Ms Tan Seow Heng graduated with BA (Hon) majoring in English and a Diploma in Education from the University of Malaya in 1981. In her capacity as a principal of a Cluster School of Excellence, she received training in school leadership and management from the King's College, London in 2008. A teacher at heart and an administrator by training for over thirty-four years, Ms Tan continues to pursue her life-long passion in Crescendo-HELP International School, that is, nurturing aspiring young people to become future leaders, equipped to serve their community and the world at large.

TAMMY CYNGIER

PRIMARY TEACHER

Ms Tammy Cyngier graduated from the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff with her degree in Primary Education eight years ago. She has since worked in various educational positions in primary classes in England and internationally with her most recent posts in China. After establishing a successful language training centre in China, the call of the classroom and school life beckoned. She decided to join Crescendo-HELP International School and further her interest in English as a Second Language within the school context. Tammy and her husband are keen to discover more about their area in southern Malaysia and will soon be out and about walking their pet dogs.

JONATHAN GREENFIELD

SCIENCE TEACHER

Mr Jon Greenfield joins Crescendo-HELP International School with his primary role being the teacher of Science. He graduated from Kingston University with a Bachelor of Science. Before joining the teaching profession, Jon worked in a variety of environmentally focused posts. He has joined us after a period of time teaching in China. Jon has a drive to identify some creative and interesting experiments that students can exprerience in the classroom for his lessons. He and his wife will also soon be seen taking their pet dog for walks around their home, getting to know the area better.

NURUL HUDA BINTI ASHAK

BAHASA MALAYSIA TEACHER

Ms Nurul Huda joins Crescendo-HELP International School as a Bahasa Malaysia Teacher. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education (Mathematics) from University Tun Abdul Razak. Previously, she worked in an international boarding school for three years before joining the Malaysian Institute of Integrity (INTEGRITI) holding a post as Assistant Director cum Coordinator for Children, Students and Youth Programme. Over at INTEGRITI, she led integrity courses and seminars throughout the nation for four years. Nevertheless, her strong desire to teach brings her back into the classroom. She loves traveling, cooking, writing and reading.

LOW EE KEE

MUSIC TEACHER

Ms Low Ee Kee holds a Bachelor (Hons) in Contemporary Music from UCSI University and a Master in Music Education from National Taichung University of Education. She has experience in teaching music from Key Stages 1 to 3 in a Malaysian international school. With over eight years’ experience of tutoring and teaching, Ms Low brings many skills to her classes. Outside of work, she loves to read, swim and travel. She always believes that music connects people.

KOW CHI YUAN

PRIMARY TEACHER

Mr Kow Chi Yuan joins Crescendo-HELP International School (CHIS) as a Primary Teacher. After graduating with a BSc in Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, he starter his teaching career in 2010 and has experience in teaching Mathematics, Science and also IPC. Mr. Kow enjoys deveoping activities with students, and brings his experience and enthusiasm to CHIS for the benefit of our students. He loves sports, specifically basketball and football.

DHARNI MADI ARAHAN

LAB ASSISTANT

Ms Dharni joins the staff at Crescendo-HELP International School as a Science Laboratory Assistant. She assists teachers in sourcing materials and researching possible educational trip locations. With a Masters in Biotechnology (Bioinformatics) from University Malaya, she previously worked as Research Associate in CARIF, Subang Jaya Medical Centre and a study coordinator in clinical research, University Hospital. She enjoys reading, research writing, travelling, shopping and badminton.

TANG SIU KIONG

MATHEMATICS TEACHER

Ms Tang Siu Kiong is a secondary Mathematics teacher at Crescendo-HELP International School. She began teaching in various Malaysian national schools in 1983 after completing a teacher training course at Batu Lintang Teachers' Training College, Kuching, Sarawak. She also has experience in teaching various levels of mathematics in the United States, having migrated there in 2001. She received her BA (Mathematics with Education) in 2009 and Masters in Applied Statistics in 2013 from University of North Texas and Universiti Malaya respectively. With over twenty-five years of experience, Ms Tang brings a wealth of knowledge and strategies to the classroom. In her leisure time, she enjoys travelling, researching and window-shopping.

ELYNN PANG

PRIMARY TEACHER

Ms Elynn is a teacher at Crecendo-HELP International School (CHIS) in the Primary Department. She graduated with a Bachelor (Hons) in Business Information Technology from Coventry University, UK. She also holds a Master of Education from Wawasan Open University, Malaysia. Prior to CHIS, she successfully established a learning centre and was Vice Principal at a private school in Johor Bahru. She is open-minded, patient and supportive of students and their families. Ms Elynn believes that “Teamwork makes miracles”. She loves to travel and read.

CAROL PAGET

PRIMARY TEACHER

Ms Carol graduated from Hamilton Teachers College, New Zealand and has dedicated her professional life to giving young children a stimulating learning environment. She has worked in England, Australia, Europe and Asia for over thirty years, including at an international School in Penang. She is excited to be returning to Malaysia and working with the team at Crescendo-HELP International School to enliven the learning of our students.

SITI NORASIKIN BINTI MOHD ARIS

BAHASA MALAYSIA TEACHER

Ms Siti joins Crescendo-HELP International School (CHIS) as a Bahasa Malaysia and Physical Education Teacher. She holds a Bachelors degree in Sports Science (Honours) from Universiti Teknologi Mara. She has 4 years' experience teaching in an international school. Besides sports, she loves the arts, travelling, and reading. She is thrilled to join CHIS and help students achieve their full potential in a fun way.

CHOW WAN SEAN

MANDARIN TEACHER

Ms Chow is a Mandarin teacher at Crescendo-HELP International School. Her love for teaching and flair for the Chinese language led her to attain a BA in Chinese (majoring in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language) and Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China and East China Normal University respectively. Ms Chow has six years of teaching experience based in China, Thailand and Malaysia and she is excited to be a part of CHIS. She has extensive experience in international education as a teacher with IGCSE Mandarin, YCT and HSK, and is a qualified HSK and YCT examination coordinator. In her spare time, she loves travelling to enhance her knowledge and widen her perspective of different countries, and enjoys playing badminton and reading.

DUNCAN HARDIE

PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SWIMMING TEACHER

Mr Duncan Hardie graduated from Bath University with PGCE in Physical Education after obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Science from The University of Greenwich in London. Mr Duncan has worked in a number of different countries including the UAE, Jordan, Tanzania, and Malaysia. He has a real passion for teaching and for all sports, especially rugby, swimming and volleyball.

THRUCHELVAM SHALAWAT KANMANY

ICT TEACHER

Mr Thruchelvam has come on board CHIS as an ICT Teacher. He holds a Degree in Bachelor of Education (Hons) majoring in Information Communication and Technology with a minor in Economics from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak. Currently pursuing his postgraduate studies in Universiti Malaya, he was an ICT and Economics teacher at Taylor’s International School, Kuala Lumpur for the past 5 years where he was Head of the ICT Department in his last 2 years of tenure. His expertise ventures further as a certified Digital Citizenship teacher who has hands-on specialization in the field of Google as an educational tool. He believes that “teaching is an art that should inspire students' hearts, not a mere instruction which tells what is where or who is what."

Administrative Staff

ASTRID CHUNG

BURSAR

Ms Astrid assists the Principal in setting up policies and systems for a smoother running of the school. She thoroughly enjoys all aspects of this challenging position as Bursar with Crescendo-HELP International School. She graduated with a post-graduate Diploma in Marketing from Chartered Institute of Marketing, United Kingdom and has several years of working experience in the services and education sectors.

CARENE WONG

ADMINISTRATIVE EXECUTIVE

Ms Carene is an Administrative Executive at Crescendo-HELP International School. She completed her Diploma in Business Administration from the Association of Business Executives, UK. She worked in a financial institution as an executive in Mortgage Department for over 10 years. She also held the role in Admissions and Marketing in an international school prior to CHIS. In her free time, she likes to play badminton, swim and cycle.

JONATHAN TAN

MARKETING OFFICER

Mr Jonathan joins Crescendo-HELP International School as the Marketing & Admission Officer. Prior to this, he was a freelance writer for a Chinese daily press. He graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Marketing from University College of Dublin. He is a keen sportsman and actively participates in triathlons, marathons and national swimming competitions.

AMIR MUHAIRUL

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Mr Amir is Assistant Administrative Executive at Crescendo-HELP International School. He graduated with a Diploma in Management from City University College, Selangor. After graduation, he worked with Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur for over 3 years before joining CHIS. During his leisure time, he likes playing football and futsal, and fishing.

Terrence Wong

Finance Executive

Mr Terrence is Finance Executive at Crescendo-HELP International School. He graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He is currently pursuing the ACCA qualification in Crescendo International College. Prior to joining CHIS, he worked as a teacher and head of CCA in a private school and thereafter, in a finance role in the construction industry. He enjoys photography and playing badminton as well as table tennis.
